Go East?! Young Man.
Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 9:57PM Yes it's true, I'm relocating from the Bay Area in California back to New England where I am originally from. Let's just say that the circumstances of my personal life have changed drastically over the last eight months or so. In addition to which California just never really became home to me.
Certainly California is an amazing place and I'm grateful for the time I was able to spend here and the very cool and geeky things I was able to see, do, and learn as well as the colleagues and friends made along the way. Some live Diggnations, two Macworlds, Mountian View Computer Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences to name a few.
Of course I'm also grateful for the opprotunity to return to New England where my roots have always been and rediscover a place I've known so well throughout my life, renew friendships, and return to the place that has always felt like home.
I'll be leaving Friday morning and driving across country as I did when I made the trek out here about a year and a half ago. I enjoyed the drive the first time, it's quite liberating to just hit the open road for several hours and no concerns before you except getting to the next stop. In a world where so many things demand our attention it's a unique experience and opprotunity to see at least part of this huge country. As a practicual matter I've also found it to be the cheapest way to actually move across country. This time I will be going home by way of the south so I look forward to seeing that part of the country. I highly recommend a long distance road trip for anyone who gets the chance.
All of that being said if you ever have the opprotunity to visit California, particuaraly North California and the Bay Area do it! It is a vibrant unique place that isn't for everyone but the landsacpe, culture, and people are like none you'll find anywhere else.
